Suzhou situated in the south of Jiangsu Province, in the middle of the Yangtze Delta. In the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and on the shores of Taihu Lake, bordering on Shanghai in the east, Zhejiang Province in the south , Taihu Lake in the west and the Yangtze River in the north. With a total area of 8,488 sq km and a population of 5.84 million + urban Population: 1.05 million is Suzhou one of the biggest areas around Shanghai.

The official language is Mandarin. Among the enormous number of local dialects, large groups speak Suzhounese.
The Religions are Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity and Islam.
