Suzhou Expat - The expatriate portal in China

At beginning 2009 the SIP wireless broadband network (pilot project) covering Jinji Lake-Rim area and Dushu Lake Higher Education Town was put into operation.
The fist step to establish a wireless Suzhou and making broadband Internet service available to everyone.

With the Wi-Fi function enabled, search with your mobile phone for the wireless Network "CHINANET-SIP". Open your browser and you'll see the login page of China Telecom wireless network. Input the username "tele" and the password "sip", now you're ready to surf the Internet.

You can have access to the network with Notbook, Netbook, PDA, Mobile Phone, or any other electronic equipment supporting Wi-Fi function and will enjoy a 2-8Mbps band speed within the area covered by the wireless network.

Free Access available in Jinji Lake-Rim Area and Higher Education Town till May 31st 2009.

According to China Telecom Suzhou Branch has cooperated with SIP in constructing wireless SIP network since this April and reached agreement on the overall network structure of centering on SIP CBD, SIP CWD, and Dushu Lake Higher Education Town, and covering the traffic arteries, the businesses along the roads, the leading public buildings, the landscape areas, and the civic centers in the areas.

Currently, the SIP wireless network covers a total area of 15.05 square kilometers, including 5.65 square kilometers SIP CBD area (including Ligong Causeway), 3.1 square kilometers SIP CWD area (including Jinji Lake Bridge and SIP administrative building complex area), and 5.1 square kilometers Dushu Lake Higher Education Town.
