Intercity Railway Trail successful

E-mail Print PDF

New High Speed TrainWith the completion of six infrastructures in Suzhou section, Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity started trial operation on June 1st after two-month shake-down test. The CHR (China High-Speed Railway) Train with the Name "Harmony" arrived at SIP Station on June 3rd, and then left the platform after two-minute stay. The trial operation observes the regular schedule without passengers.

The trains are clean, comfortable and modern. Seating is comparable to that in an airplane. Unlike regular Chinese trains, all tickets are for assigned seats; there is no-one sitting in the aisles. Also unlike other trains, no smoking is allowed, including toilet and between carriages.

The fast trains are called CRH, China Railway High-speed. At some train stations there is a separate CRH ticket office or even vending machines, at others, CRH tickets are sold at separate counters in the main ticket office. In either case, just look for the "CRH" signs or logo. There are just two classes of tickets, first class and second class. Prices are not all that different, for example RMB 69 vs. RMB 88 for Nanjing-Suzhou. Both classes are comfortable, though first has noticeably wider seats.Suzhou SIP Station

Train numbers for these trains all start with "C" or "D". Intermediate-speed trains have a "Z" or "T" prefix, the slower and more crowded ones generally have "K" or no letter. Shorter routes have 4 digits and longer routes have 1 to 3 digits.

Shanghai <-> Suzhou <-> Wuxi <-> Changzhou <-> Nanjing is the busiest stretch of railway on Earth, and was one of the first to get the high-speed service. Time for the whole route is below two hours. Wuxi <-> Suzhou or Suzhou <-> Shanghai are both under a half hour.

The intercity railway service will be available to the public in late June and the fastest hourly speed of the train is 350 kilometers.

Rubbish

E-mail Print PDF

RubbishLast night, police seized six vehicles for food residues in GuanQian Street.

The illegal collectors of food residues drove at night shuttle in different restaurants, the monthly income up to 40—50 thousands RMB. The food residues barrels for them are "treasure bowls". They sell the food residues to pig farmers (easier for pigs to get bigger), or refine “waste oil” (and perhaps what you eat in restaurants every day of oil), thus earn huge profits.Rubbish
