Chongyuan Temple to Reopen Today after Reconstruction PDF Print E-mail
Written by Ralf
Friday, 16 November 2007
The Chongyuan Temple is to be reopened to the public today, after a large-scale reconstruction. A grand Buddhist ceremony will be held on November 16th and 17th to celebrate the reopening of the ancient temple.

Originally built in the Northern and Southern Dynasties (386–589), the Chongyuan Temple has a history of 1,504 years. After the reconstruction, the new temple has set several records: it has the highest above-water Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) Pavilion of China, the tallest and heaviest indoor Guanyin's figure of China and the heaviest bronze bell of China.

News also shows that nil entrance fee of Chongyuan Temple will be charged within three months after the opening. From February 18th 2008 to February 18th 2009, the entrance fee will be priced at only CNY 1.00. The fare for visiting the Guanyin Pavilion by elevator will be CNY 20.00 per one.
