			<title>Chinese Citizen Marriage to Foreigner</title>
			<link>http://www.suzhou-expat.com/content/view/115/88/#comment-35</link>
<description>Re Jamieson comments on marriage to Chinese Citizen.

I to am in the process of working out what I need in the form of documentation to marry a Chinese Citizen in China. I am an Australian who recently returned back to Sydney after a lengthy work assignment in China. I am not a resident foreigner(ie. don't have residency status in China).
Can you provide me more precise information as to the documentation I need from Australia in order to avoid any possible hassles when going through the application process in China. I am aware that the application needs to be lodged throught the Nanjing Marriage Registry Office and that I need my passport and paperwork from Australia showing marriage status. Would appreciate your help given you have been through this process.

<title>No Dramas getting maried in China</title>
			<link>http://www.suzhou-expat.com/content/view/115/88/#comment-34</link>
<description>I had absolutely no dramas getting married in China.

It is very simple.

1. Get a certificate of no impediment
to marriage from your Consulate, in English and Chinese with a formal &quot; Chop&quot; (Official endorsement stamp). This may require a database search result from your home Country/Province/State/Municipal Government.

Get 2 letters from the local Police.

One is to confirm your fiancee is registered as a resident in your province or city.

Two is for you to provide your residence cetificate where you live.

Three is for you to bring your passport.

Four is for her to bring her ID card and the letters at point 2.

Bring 1,000 kuai, 6 photos of you, 6 photos of her and 6 photos of you together.

It was so easy for me. The marriage office staff were very co-operative, the Lady Manager was lovely.

Done in a jiffy, so long as you have ALL your paperwork in order. Do not f**k it up or you will have to do it again.

It took an hour, but friend, you MUST have all the paperwork in order. Trust me. Been there, done that.

When I was in the marriage office in Nanjing I met 2 friendly French guys with Chinese wives. They had all
the documents in order. French are fussy. Me too, as an Australian. Normally we deal with Government oficials as potential friends.

We do not usually face hostile Officials.

Just get your papers in order, and no problems, that is essential. I had no problems. I stress No Problems.

Signed, Your rookie - 5 years combat in China.
