Work Visa or Tourist Visa 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I hate my job and have contemplated leaving, but I am concerned about VISA trouble. My VISA expires in about a month ( a working VISA). I want to stay to try and find independent work tutoring or another job, but I won't have much time. I am unsure if my job will sponsor me for part-time work. Do you think it is possible to go to Hong Kong to get a tourist VISA and then return here for a little while, or am I just completely off my rocker here? Can I even tour here without a sponsor?? Can I live here without a residence permit? Can I get a residence permit with a tourist VISA? Grr....

You can get a two months double entry in Hong Kong, but only visitor visa. You definitely cannot get reisdence permit with a visitor visa. But maybe two months is enough time to find yourself a sponsor, buys you a little time. And yes, you can tour without a sponsor.
Hope this helps,

Hey Coraderie,

Fanta is right. But what I was thinking is that you have your current employer renew your work permit/residency permit for another year. Then after you have that in hand, you can leave that company and roam free for a years time. Companies usually won't go out of their way to cancel it on you (but they might...so pay attention to this).

Otherwise, you just need to make a trip out of China, grab a visa, then come back in. If you do go to HK, flying to Shenzhen then taking a bus into HK is a cheaper and easy way to save a few bucks. HK is still considered to be an international flight so it costs more.

Good luck!

The Subway is also good to take from Shenzhen to HK. The Luo Wu line ends at Shenzhen train station, which it is very handy.
