Apart from the Giant Bikes store on Remin Lu downtown, does anyone else have knowledge of other options to purchase a bike locally

hi,
there is a big shop at Shilu, downdown. you can find it opposite to Holiday Inn. they have many electric scooters and bicycles. take bus 307 and get off when you see Holiday Inn.

Hi there...near by quan xing jie there is a very good TREK store...the guys there actually ride to mountains every weekend...I already went to one, and..wow! u can sweat...

I also found another store near by Suzhou, from Oyama, which is a taiwanese brand for bolding bikes...very good quality in the range of folding bikes...I bought one and I just love it...

Many thanks for the information you both posted, I'm back in Suzhou tomorrow so I'll seek these places out. I may be in touch for more specific addresses, but part of the fun is trying to find them it gives me time to explore more of Suzhou

Just to let you know I managed to get hold of a bike from Silverbike 426? Shizi Jie (1 north of Bar St)
Shop owner/manager spoke excellent English and I feel I got a good deal.

It's a road bike rather than a mountain bike and I'm well pleased. To date just 3 trips of 20 miles a time...but come on it has been raining a lot.
