Suzhou Expat - The expatriate portal in China

I'm moving to Suzhou on a mid term contract from the UK, I am in Suzhou the end of this month for one week to find an appartment, I have been given a list of real estate by a company appointed agent, I would love to hear opinion on the list below.

I'm a native Suzhounese and I've lived in SIP for years.

I suggest you choose Four Seasons Park. If possible, choose building No. 12. (the high one)

I've lived there for 2 years and here are the advantages of that place:

1. House quality is solid and good.

2. Inside area is clean and organized

3. Have swimming pool, tennis court etc

4. Have a nice Japanese shop inside where you can buy fresh food

5. The poeple living there are nice

6. Blue Marlin and food markey are just near by

7. Traffic is convenient there

Well, now am living in Jia Cheng Garden. The house quality is so shabby, lift is so dirty. And the people here are not so well mannerred..

Hi Neil,

Only been here for just over a month but was looking for a month before that,I wouldn't go near Landmark Skylight, I looked at a few in there, its really run down and in dire need of a complete facelift!

You don't say where you will be working, it can make a big difference to your daily commute etc? Suzhou is a big place by UK standards (7ish million people)and your company is pointing you at apartments in the West side of the lake so I'm guessing your work is in SIP?

My work is in Suxu Road, do you know this?

I guess a Taxi commute daily will be the order, so is this a congested city then, traffic problems?

What I realy need is a modern place, clean, gated, and with thick walls, I DJ and so music will be played loud at times. close to or including a gym and quick stores.

The other thing is mozzies - I'm prone to bites and I heard that 10 stories or above and you escape these little blighters, is this myth or true?

Su Xu Road.. You work in TRW?

That area is west of downtown, not SIP. No good quality apt there. You still should choose an apt in SIP.

Suggestion:

Four Seasons, Building 12 ---- it is a high building of 27 floors. Really solid walls and have a nice Jap grocery shop inside.


Bai Ling Mansion ---- the other tall buidling standing side by side to Four Seasons. It is a service apt building.


You can easily get a taxi in above building area.
