Suzhou has long been a major producer of the finest silk in the world. Hence, it is nicknamed the Home of Silk. Silk produced here are of superior quality if you buy from government runned outlets. Tour to Suzhou will not be complete without a visit to silk museum / factory. Here you can also learn about the process of making silk, turning cocoon into silk thread.

Consider buying a silk quilt which is warm during winter months & cooling during summer months. It is also dubbed as "longetivity blanket" as it can last almost a lifetime. Other things to buy are silk scarf, tie & clothings.
